Because the testicles are very superficial organs, it is much easier to perform with much less risk than tubal ligation.
Roughly 500,000 vesectomies are performed yearly in the United States. Dr. Nudell has performed over 1300 vasectomies in the past 20 years. Patients are given a choice to perform these under a sedative and local anesthesia OR in a surgery center under a quick general anesthesia. Either way the procedure takes about 20 minutes and recovery can take place mostly over 2-3 days. Dr. Nudell performs the NO SCALPEL vasectomy (minimally invasive vasectomy) which has been shown to decrease healing time and risks.
